Prof. Zhang received her M.D from Bethune Medical University in 1996. She then worked in Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University as a cardiovascular physician. In 2002, she received her Ph.D. in the Bioengineering Department from Dalian University of Technology, China. In 2006-2007, she went to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University, USA, for postdoctoral research. Since 2002, she has been a lecturer, associate professor and professor at the State Key Laboratory of Fine Chemicals, School of Chemistry, Dalian University of Technology, as a leader of Chemical Biology Group. She has been the project leader of seven National Natural Science Foundation of China and two Fundamental Research Funds for the Central University and published more than 70 SCI papers in peer-reviewed journals, such as Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Leukemia, J. Med. Chem., Eur. J. Med. Chem., J. Bio. Chem; and is the inventor of more than ten authorized Chinese patents, including four that have been purchased by a pharmaceutical industry, one authorized U.S patent and one authorized Z.A patent. Research in her laboratory focuses on the fields of medicinal chemistry and pharmacology of anti-tumor leading compounds, such as pan-Bcl-2 inhibitors, and studies of protein-protein interaction by small molecules.
